Why question those who want a small yorkie? Yorkie's are supposed to be small dogs, anything over 7 Lbs is big by definition. If you want a Yorkie that meets the standard you just need to find a reputable breeder that knows how to achieve that. Most breeders use a pattern of bigger females and smaller males and that makes them feel like they are doing the right thing. In reality that combination produces various sizes in which almost none will meet the standard for correct proportion. The standard describes much more than size, it's a picture of the correct dog...nose to tail. The standard now reads "Must not exceed 7 lbs." , it does not specify a minimum weight.

I don't think anyone should have to defend their preference for a Yorkie that is to the smaller end of the standard, or to the larger end, it's a personal preference, not a morality issue.
