Default Cat food?

I have three cats, 3 dogs (only one wee one). I didn't know that cat food was bad for dogs and have occasionally allowed our senior dog to have a little, only because he seems to love the stuff. Luckily, I have had to keep the cat dishes up high and away from the dogs. Otherwise, the poor cats would never get any food...the dogs would steal it all. After reading here, I'm sure glad of it and will never let the dogs have it again.
I guess I have to look at this house with humor or I'd blow my brains out. The best gig in town: show up at our door, look hungry and lonely and you end up in bed with us that same night. Nearly all are rescues and all have some special need or another. AND one big dog and the wee one do not get along so they need to be kept apart using kennels, spare bed rooms, separate runs or muzzle. Their food dishes must be separate for special needs and everybody, spoiled rotten, wants something on their own schedule every minute.
Thank you for your post...we will be very careful with the cat food.
