I have learned that many people overuse the word NO with there pups and it starts to have no effect whatsoever like you stated. So instead of saying the word No, use a loud noise that means no/unacceptable....this is really effective with my pups. They hear that noise and they know whatever they are doing is off limits or a no-no. Give that a whirl and let us know if it works.

Another strategy that may work is placing several pennies in an empty aluminum can and taping the top closed.....when the pup gets close to the table that he is chewing on, you give the can a firm shake and they begin to relate the action with the loud scary noise and they stop. It may work.
