I'm now looking into getting him a crate, but I don't know if I'm supposed to leave him food and water in the crate all day?? Sometimes he may be alone for as long as 10 or 12 hours a day. I don't like it, but I no longer have a roommate and don't have another option. Is this too long? Especially depending on whether he gets to keep his food and water with him?

What did he do about using the bathroom? Does he use pads?

My suggestion would be to get an ex-pen. I got one for my dog. I use a crate for her, but I didn't want her to be in the crate when I had to be away for a long time. In the ex-pen, I have her crate, and next to that her blanket and toys. If I were going to be gone a long time, I would add her food and water. In the other end, her litter pan.

This setup would allow your little guy some room to move, as well as having access to his food and water.

Good luck!
