I am so afraid that she will "nip" at him too hard or get a little jealous - I just want things to go well. I think short supervised playtimes will be best at the beginning until we see how things go. Any advice on how to handle the nipping if it gets too hard or will "nature handle it"? I know sometimes when she gets too excited she sometimes nips my toes and it hurts! Any ideas anyone? |
Yeah it is good that they are about the same size..as I said give them little play sessions together and see how they go..your little boy will soon be giving her a run for her money when he is a little bigger and more settled..they will sort it out amongst themselves no doubt...always give your girl treats first and feed her first...as she was there first.. then there should be no probs with jealousy..If she starts to get too nippy maybe clap your hands and say NO!! loads of members on here have added another yorkie at some point and most seem to have done it successfully and their yorkies are now the best of buddies

..it will just take a little time for them to get to know one another and learn to live with each other..I lost my 14 year old yorkie last year..My 8 year old staffy had grown up with her..so when we brought Pixie into our home I was terrified he wouldn't accept her..and he is a much bigger and powerful dog!

at first her looked at her a bit strange...and I thought OMG! he is going to attack her!! I was too petrified to put her on the floor! I don't think her knew what to make of her because she was sooo little! within a day or so Pixie was cuddling up to him on his bed and he didn't seem to mind at all!( PHEW!) It's so funny because Pixie just LOVES him!! but my staffy basically ignores her for the most part!! she is always jumping up at him and trying to kiss him!

they have accepted one another and have learnt to live side by side. It should all work out fine
