 Escape Artist - HELP!
Okay so we're having some issues with Sadie and her lack of listening lately. She has learned that she can fit under the side gate that leads from our backyard into our frontyard. The front yard is not fenced in so she has free access to everything (the street, neighbors, etc)! Well, she hadnt been going through it with us in the backyard but that all changed this morning. She saw 2 stray dogs going down the street and decided that she was going to go say hello to them and took off! I chased her yelling "Sadie, come here!" for probably half a block. The only reason I caught her was because I cornered her on someone's porch! I spanked her and put her in her kennel when we got home and yelled at her that she was a bad girl. A few hours later, my son took her out to go potty and she immediately escaped again! I had to chase her across the street and down a few houses where she could clearly hear me calling her and deliberately ran away. I ordered a brand new galvanized gate that we're going to put up tomorrow where she wont be able to get through. So that problem with be solved, BUT I need some advice to get her to listen to me when I call her. Its important that she learns to come to me when I call her, I think. Advice??? |
