oh my gosh the endless pitbull debate! I say punish the deed not the breed, but I've been debating this on here for 3 1/2 years, and I haven't seen it change any minds yet lol. This is one of those things where people have their own opinions and no matter what anyone else says theyre going to stay that way.

I think every single attack by ANY dog should be taken on an individual basis - not a breed basis. A pitbull saving it's owner's life isn't going to get as many readers as a pitbull mauling it's owner to death - naturally we're mostly only going to hear the bad stories.

My dad works in a HUGEE county park and sees people walking with their dogs all the time. As a dog lover, he always comes home and talks about them. Just today he mentioned a nasty little chi and the sweetest pit in the world. There are some little dogs that I wouldn't go near for anything, just as there are some big dogs I wouldn't go near for anything. Would I tempt a pit and put it in a bad situation? Never. But do I think that they're all going to snap and it's just a matter of time? Not at all.

Pits have been inbred like CRAZY. Most of the pitbull's of today's society are not "real" pitbulls. They're poorly bred, inbred, mixed breed, etc., pitbulls. Real pits are NOT human aggressive - these pits that you hear about attacking babies...there's a reason behind it. Whether it's the way they were raised, their backround, or a "trigger" that sets them off.

I use this every time I talk about this: People post on here all the time "my yorkie freaks out and 'attacks' me when I put on a hat/mask/uniform." and everyone awwws cause it's so cute. Well, pitbulls can ALSO freak out when their owners put on a hat/mask/uniform, but it's not so cute anymore. They are POWERFUL dogs - crazy powerful. They should only go to VERY VERY specific owners who can handle and control them. They need to not be encouraged to play bite or whatever when they're small and it's adorable - or when they're older they'll still be play biting and it won't be adorable - it'll be bad.
