Spraying water and growling at a very young puppy will backfire. He is like a human baby, and needs lots of love and attention. He wants to be near you and cuddled. But, when you can't ease his fears by giving him a stuffed animal , or something that has your scent on it. reward him when he does not cry in his crate and tell him what a sweet, wonderful, puppy he is. In time he will stop crying.
