I would definatly stop growling at him and squirting him. It will probably only make it worse. When I brought Hank home at 10 weeks he cried the whole way home the whole first day. Then he would cry continuosly when we put him in his crate. After the first couple of days he was so much better and he eventually stopped. Also i gave him some stuffed animals and a comfy bed that he could cuddle with.
but please dont punish him (ie spraying or growling) while he is in his crate/pin. We are supposed to make them feel like that is a safe and comforable.

also make sure he is in a small crate. They are supposed to be able to stand and turn around in and no bigger at that age big spaces are overwhelming. I would try a pet taxi!
