I use a crate with Pebbles because that is what she was trained in by her previous owner. When we brought Doodlebug home, I purchased an XPen for him. It's like a baby play yard. We took 2 sides off and made a small square, put his bed, water, food and peepee pad in with him and set it into our family room. Pebbles crate is in our bedroom and she goes in whenever she feels like chillin. I would personally use the xpen if you don't plan to use it long term.
