Hey. This is coming from a first time Yorkie mommy and half the time I have no clue what is going on but my Yorkie has had a regression too. He was doing great going outside but then began to have accidents in the apartment again. Like yesterday he peed all over our futon which is for guests to sleep on. I recieved some great training tips on here. It might help to find her motivation. For example, Jack loves cheese and I did research and no where did I find that it isn't good for dogs. So I went out today and bought string cheese. I peeled it apart and cut into smaller chunks. So whenever Jack goes outside I give him a chunk and then make a huge fuss like he saved the world. He loves the attention. But then today when he had an accident (we didn't see it so we couldn't tell him no) so we withdrew our attention. We didn't pet him or look at him. When we walked by him, we stood straight and looked forward instead of down. It was super hard for me to do but he realized that we weren't paying attention and he began to follow me around everywhere when I went out of sight. But I never acknowledged it. I think we did this in the range of 5 to 10 minutes. We wanted to give the impression that he needs to earn our attention. I have read somewhere that it also helps make sure you stay alpha in the "pack." Ever since that little accident he hasn't gone in the house...... yet. I hope this helps. If you run across anything that has helped please post because I am trying just anything I can think or hear. Let me know how it goes..... good luck! |
