I hope it was someone doing something nice for you, but a few months ago, my dh went to pay our Verizon bill and they took his check, ran it thru and returned it (like they always do) and he left, assuming it had been posted. Not too long afterward I think his phone was shut off and he found out that it was b/c he supposedly hadn't paid the bill....so he talked to them, they turned the phone back on, he went down to show them the receipt and sure enough, the phone number they'd posted it to was the same number but a different area code(it was on the receipt)~ it took awhile to get it cleared up too....sometimes they're almost more trouble than they're worth. I'm glad they keep track of things better than my dh does
