I might get some negitive responses to this, but I have 7 yorkies. And I used to sleep in our spare room, so the dogs could sleep with me. My husband doesn't want to share the bed with the dogs. He wasn't a fan of seprate beds either. So he will allow one dog in the bed at a time. So everyone get a turn to sleep with us. When it isn't their turn I do kennel them at nite. Since they are den animals, they do go to their own kennels and put themselves up for the night.
They all have their favorite blankee's in their kennels. All I have to do is shut the doors at night except for who ever's turn it is for bed privledges that night. I personally don't like to kennel, but they like it and I do feel in case of fire or other emergency that may happen in the middle of the night I would be able to locate all my babies and bring them to safety if need be. If I have a female about to whelp I do still retire to the spare room, so in the middle of the night they will be able to wake me in the event of puppies coming, this has worked great for me in the past.
