yet another pitt bull attack. I KNOW I KNOW!! It is the OWNERS not the dog. But by damn, MY child or pet will NOT be around one. I don't care how friendly!
Just yesterday, I took 2 of my yorkies to the vets to get shots. Mike had one on a leash and I had another. Right near the front door (outside) sat a young family (2 adults, 4 kids, all under the age of about 5) with thier pitt bull waiting to be called for their dog to get his shots. At first I wondered why he was sitting outside, but as we started to walk past them with our yorkies on VERY short leashes, carefully walking them on the opposite side of us so we were between the dog and ours. It was all the owner could do to keep his dog from attacking mine. I could just imagine the owners saying, oh he is so sweet. we have him around our kids and he has never bitten one. Sure enough the kids were toddlers and hanging all over the dog, but as soon as he saw our yorkies he was straining at his leash snarling and barking and I have no doubt he would have killed them if he could get to them. Now tell me that dog wouldn't bite a person too! and yes, I have read that other dogs are on the "top 10" list of attacks, but they don't all have the shear strenght of a pitt bull. One bite and he no doubt would have killed my dogs.
