I feel very sorry for the child. What kind of parents does he have though? But why was he left home alone at 10 years old? The dog was probably not trained or socialized. I am against BSL, it is not the breed, it is the owner and breeders that are at fault. . A rottweiler will bite someone before a pit bull will. I work at a shelter and we have only had one case of a pit bull biting someone. But have had several rottweilers, shepherds, cattle dogs, bulldogs, and labs that bit people. We have had more rottis and labs attack other animals then pit bulls too. We have several pit bulls brought in for running at large and they have not hurt anyone or other animals. I have picked up several stray pit bulls in my job and they are usually very friendly. I have dealt with mean shepherds, chows, chihuahuas, rottweilers. A rotti mix attacked the other animal control officer. Please do not hate a particular breed. Dogs are what we make them to be. We need to stop backyard breeders and give all dogs lots of socialization.
