Allergies usually don't surface until after repeated exposure to the allergen. Perhaps their other brief exposures weren't enough to trigger allergies until after they had your puppy for a few days, as they said.
Regardless, you did the right thing. They let you you know soon enough, that the puppy should be able to be placed again soon.
And, regarding the "hall of shame" - you have to be careful posting anything like that, libel and slander suits can be expensive to defend, even if the facts are on your side.
I would let it go and hopefully you won't have this problem again.
