Sometimes allergies don't come on immediately, all people have different thresholds of tolerance to allergens. Once the bucket overflows so to speak, the symptoms show up.

Not saying they didn't lie, it's possible -- but it's also possible to not be allergic from handling a dog and visiting breeders depending on the severity of the allergy.
