I believe admin posted the announcement on "general discussion." It's hard to miss if you check new posts fairly regularly.
One tip: Be sure to save the high resolution version of your photos. Lots of times people shrink them for the Internet, then toss out the original picture. For the calendar, you need the full-size picture right out of your camera.
