Last night my little brother, well he's not little he is 6ft 4in and 25 yrs old, was charging batteries for my son and his son's remote controlled cars and a battery pack blew up in his face. He was home with just his 10mos old daughter who was thankfully on the other side of the gate (good thinking Daddy) when it happened as it blew battery acid and peices everywhere. He had his cell in his pocket and called 911 and my parents. He spent 8 hours in the ER getting his eyes flushed and facial wounds cleaned. They called in an optomotrist to get all the pieces off his eyes and he went to see the opt againt this morning at 8:30. He has scratches in both eyes and some scarring in the left, that is the one they are worried about. His eyes are completely swollen shut right now and will be for 5-6 days they say. He is just miserable not being able to see. It's times like this when you don't realize the value of the everyday things like sight. It won't be until he can open them that they will know how serious the permanant damage is. As of right now they are expecting the left eye to be permanately damaged and partial loss of sight.
He has to go to the eye doc daily until at least friday. The burns on his face from the battery acid will heal with minimal scarring they think, but we have dealt with a very good cosmetic surgeon from my numerous surgeries from my motorcycle wreck that he will see if not.
I know I have asked for P&PT recently for my Dad, and I hate to ask for more, but my brother needs them. He is a truck/delivery driver for Innova and his sight is what he needs to work and support his family of 6. Any P&PT you guys could spare we could really use them again.
