Default questions to ask for lp surgery

I am going to make an appointment to meet with the orthopedic surgeon for Taz soon. He is about a year and a half and started limping on his back leg about a year ago. The vet didn't think it was lp for almost 4 months, she couldn't move his knee cap easily manually. Had xrays to rule anything else out and we tried to rest him and eventually when he was there she did say that she could now get his kneecap to move. Now it seems to do it quite a bit more when he walks. He runs and jumps like crazy but it seems to do it more when he walks. So now I think it's time to get if fixed. What should I ask them about the surgery? Anything specific that I should be looking for that they do or don't do? Also he had bloodwork done before he was fixed last summer, should he have it done again? Thanks
