Well, to get right down to the nitty-gritty, we are all to blame in one way or another. Instead of rescuing animals from animal shelters and humane societies, we insist on purebred puppies. They become very popular as a result of this desire to own one of these cute puppies, so the puppymiller's and byb's buy some of these cute little doggies to breed and sell at a nice profit to pet stores or the unsuspecting public. It's going to take more than most people think to change the horrible situation breeding facilities have created across the country and even south of the border. This country is based on capitalism. As long as there is a demand, there will always be a supplier. The only way to stop this is to pass laws limiting the number as well the living conditions of the animals. I cannot see it happening in this country anytime soon. For example, our government officials are not looking at the conditions in which yorkies are bred. They are looking at the big picture. All dogs. The laws that people want to see passed must apply to all dogs and not just our precious little yorkies.
