My girlfriend's daughter used to threaten calling...finally GF picked up the phone saying...here I will dial the number. What you do not understand is YOU will be taken from the house. They do not come get ME...I'll still be here. You will not. And that was the last time she'd heard that threat.
I think leaving places exactly...twice was all it took for my daughter to realize I meant business. It is very effective.
Mine never threw tantrums in public...but at home...I would leave the room. She would actually get up..follow me...and throw herself down AGAIN...the tantrums didn't last too much longer...it's not fun to throw one without an audience.
