When we took Aria to obiedience training this is how they showed us how to teach the word "come"...
Put the dog on a leash, run backwards facing the dog so the dog runs following you, when you stop and the dog is right in front of you say "come" and give them a treat. She did it this way cause then it shows them to run to you when you say "come". Worked pretty good for Aria. She usually comes, then again I didn't take enough time to really train her.
