I was also wondering of the invisible fence works on yorkies. My brother has one for his bigger dog. Only his is all wireless, he puts the box outside on the porch and sets the distance. The collar warns her when she's getting too close to the boundry and she won't cross it. If she does it keeps shocking her untill she's back in range. I like that because there's nothing to bury in the ground. You just have to make sure the batteries are always charged. It's amazing how fast they learn how far they can go. In the beginning you walk them around the boundry line and show them the flags. You can start gradually removing the flags. I'll have to check the pet store and see if they have them for small dogs.
My other brother used a debarking collar on his small dogs. He put out flags and when they'd come to close he'd use the debarker, they learned quick too. Although he has an 8 foot privacy fence in the backyard he lives near a busy highway and wanted them to know boundries in case they ever slipped out the front. |
