I can do both. I prefer the crocheting..it goes so much faster. I am not that advance in knitting though...not into making clothes. I usually like to make baby blankets as gifts and maybe small hats, booties.

Knitting does give you a much tighter weave than the crocheting. I am not sure what to tell you in regards to durability.
