Angry vent: so frustrated about not having a lot of money!

okay, so i recently decided that adopting a yorkie from a rescue shelter would be a good idea. i wanted to help save an unwanted yorkie as well as saving some money by not purchasing from a breeder.

well, it turns out that a lot of the yorkies at shelters cost nearly as much as what i paid my breeder for Kash (my current furbaby)! i understand that shelters are non-profit, and the adoption fees go towards helping the other dogs at the shelter, but i'm so frustrated because i just CANNOT afford it.

i want SOOOO badly to give an unwanted yorkie a second chance, but i simply can't cough up such a large lump sum of money all at once. i recently inquired about a yorkie girl for adoption from UYR, and the fee for her was $600! i paid $750 for Kash... so it wasn't much of a savings (for me).

i know that it shouldn't be about money. it's about saving a dog and helping the others, but when it comes to compromising my own lifestyle, i just can't do it. i still have to pay bills and eat food, ya know? the lady from the rescue told me the amount of the fee depends on the health and age of the dog. the girl i wanted was 6.5 months old and super healthy, so that's why she cost so much... but if i chose a 6-10 yr old, the fee would (maybe) be a few hundred dollars cheaper (which in my case is still too much $$$).

sorry for the vent. i hope i don't cause a heated discussion about why i should just pay the fee and suck it up. lol.

thanks YT!
