 Minature Cujo
My Layla had a puppy on July 14. Beautiful baby girl we named her Bella. My husband and I were with her the whole time during whelping, because that seem to be what she wanted. Layla is such a sweet angel (When she isn't around her pup). After giving birth to Bella she allowed me to pick the puppy up and place it on a teat, once that was done I was no longer allowed to touch the puppy. She actual bite me twice. She is so aggressive when we get around her puppy, she has now gotten to where she will let me pet the puppy, she still want let my husband near it. I think the only reason she is allowing me to touch her baby is because she wants me to put it in our bed. She has always slept in the bed with us until she had the puppy, now she is confined to a box in the closet. My question: Is this a normal reaction for her? and how long will she behave like this? My husband said that some dogs keep this aggressive behavior after having puppies, is that so? When Layla isn't with her puppy, she is the same sweet little thing as before. I can understand her being aggressive with a new puppy if strangers were around, but we are her family and have spoiled her rotten. So why doesn't she trust us? Sorry so long, I just can't figure her out. She is right now beside me wanted to be love on. |
