Anal glands are two little sacs around the anus that needs to be cleaned. Sometimes the dogs will try to do this themselves by scooting their butts on the floor. I think the groomers and vets do this by applying pressure the the glands. (It is best left up to someone who knows what they are doing which I do not since I don't do gland cleaning). To the best of my knowledge, if they are not cleaned it can lead to infections of the glad. Your vet or groomer could tell you more about this.
