This " high sensitive hearing" seemed to start the worst when the lightning hit that tree, I NEVER heard anything so loud, then all wood splinter/wood chunks all over the yard. I think it affected her eardrums!
The baby don't seem to have that sensitive hearing, at least she don't blink her eyes when I snap my fingers ! I could whisper the older ones name from the other end of the house and she'd come running. Thats good to know in any emergency anyways. If you don't show any emotion in a storm they will pick it up but in the case of the tree falling and the lightning striking, that was natural acts anything would be afraid. She's getting better during storms but still not as well tolerated as her little sister, she could care less.
