I pretty much take Mia everywhere with me.. including to work every day. You can take a dog almost anywhere EXCEPT where there is food. When I go out to lunch, it is usually somewhere I can eat outside so I can have her with me. When I shop I usually have her in her carrier zipped... or sometimes unzipped so she can hang her head out. Most of the time she'll just fall asleep.
Like another said.. get your baby used to a carrier right away! Mia loves her carrier, I sometimes find her in it when we're at home.. little monkey!
Walmart and Target are very strict about pets... I wouldn't attempt to take him to either of those stores.
