Be sure that when teaching "come" you make your baby come close enough that you can pick her up BEFORE giving the treat. When I was first teaching Jamie "come" he would get just close enough to snatch the treat and run, which was clearly not helping me in an emergency. I was just so excited that he came my way at all that I gave him the treat. So I had to totally reteach it. Now he does come and I also taught him to do "Up". When I say "up he turns around facing away from me so that I can pick him up. I think he turns around so that he's not facing me while I loom over him to pick him up.
