I agree with you COMPLETELY!!! My husband and I had a very tough choice... take the puppy and make sure he gets proper care or let the breeder (owener) sell the puppy to the next family in line.

As bad as that seems and with out knowing the other families in line I can't tell you if they would have been just as loving and caring as I but I believe I, we, my family was the better choice.

Last night when we went to purchase the puppy.. (not to take him home) one of the puppies from the liter was already gone! I asked how that could be with them being so young and all.. The owner said that her dog (the mamma dog) has never had puppies before so she didnt believe they were getting as much attention as puppies should. The owner started bottle feeding the pups and giving them paste as well... (not sure what that is).

When we walked in to the home it was very nice and neat and the puppies were all being kept in a crate by themselves... there was bedding and it was slightly soiled...

My heart went out to the puppies and I just couldnt walk away... It seemed to me that the owner that it would be easy to breed her pets and it turned out to be more work than she expect with her and her husband working full time... I am lucky enough (kind of anyways..) that my husband is home right now waiting on his work visa to come through... (we were just recently married May 8th & he is a British Citizen )... So I thought at least the puppy would be taken care of.

When my husband asked about purchasing the pup and picking him up in a few weeks so he can be with his mom a little longer the Owner was completely against it... (laziness I think, they shouldnt have any more puppies if you ask me!)

So I came home and called our vet to make sure our new pup will be okay.... Its going to be a lot of work I believe... but I just couldn't walk away knowing that he would be better off with us (considering his situation).

I hope we are doing the right thing. I have been reading about so much all week and I am leaving work in about an hour to go shopping to buy him EVERYTHING I think he might need...
Make sure you listen to the vet and other breeders here on info to do with that pup. I know with my parents we found two abandoned kittens(that couldn't walk hardly at al at their young age) and we fed them milk and such and now they're little demons(aka they grew up just fine) but that breeder needs to know that 8-12 weeks is when they should be selling them.
