While I am not so sure that this was the best way to handle the situation, I am glad that the HS stepped in and did it seeing as they couldn't get those dogs out of there any other way. The most important thing is that those poor babies will now receive the care and love that they should have been receiving since the day that they arrived.
My first worry when I read the article was that he would take that money to start up another mill. Then when I saw his age, that put me a little more at ease.....hopefully this doesn't happen. While I do understand why the HS did this, it definitely doesn't send out a good message to other puppy millers. If animals can be kept in conditions such as these and no laws are being broken, then stronger laws need to be passed. The laws need to protect the animals and not the people. If the people can't adhere to the laws, then the animals need to be taken, not bought.
When I read his statement that the animals received better care than in a home because they had runs and food, my stomach about turned. Those are necessities....they need to move and eat. That is not care! These babies need love and attention.....not just the things needed to keep them alive while they are used to make money.
