We took him on his test ride but it was in the back seat. He had no problem at all seeing out the side window. A strap comes with it which you attach to the seat belt and then to the yorkie's harness. I'd be afraid to lower the window while driving, but while stationary, I imagine if the seat was close enough to the side door or window, he'd be able to stick his head out a little. We did not have the seat so close to the side door, however.
