I assume once you get the smell out you can seal the grout... (the water and vinegar solution sounds good).

The vinegar solution is the best at removing deep down stains/smells. It's cheap as heck to use as well. I buy a big old gallon for like $3 and mix it down. It's very good as a regular household cleaner if you want to go Green.
