It lets her still be in charge of 'security' while it shows her there is nothing to bark at.
The dogs on both sides of us bark incessantly. Sometimes, this will set her off, but all I have to do is say 'No Barking" and she stops. She is a good girl. Heck, I can even tell the dog next door to hush and she will, most times. However, she continues to do a growly thing 'under' her breath....that's pretty funny, too.
Yorkies are highly trainable. All it takes is persistance. I couldn't do the can thing with Sassy. I did it once because a trainer had told me to do it with another dog. Poor Sassy....It hurt her feelings so much she ran away to another room. When I called her to me, she crawled to me on her tummy and that broke my heart. She does fine with spoken words.
If this is something that is going to make the decision for you to get a Yorkie or not...do it!! You will be a much happier person for it. You can 'personalize' a Yorkie. All the best to you! |
I think this is a great idea and many experts believes that this works well.
