I keep Matise in full coat. In the beginning he hated to be brushed, he would cry and cry as if I was killing him but I stuck with it. And it paid off, he finally stopped the crying and just sits there and takes it for the most part. He's still a little squirmy every once in awhile but for the most part he sits still. He even lets me comb him while I use the blow dryer after baths. I comb him every 2 days. I only trim the tips of his ears and the bottom of his feet. I also started putting in a topknot the minute I got him(he was 4 months old) and now he sits perfectly still when I do his topknot. I say if you want to keep his hair long then just stick with it and it will get better with time.
