The check engine light means that at least one sensor is sending a "code" to the computer. You can try "Seafoam" fuel treatment and sometimes that will correct idle problems if they are related to a fouled fuel injector or an O2 sensor. If that doesn't help a code reader will give you a list of sensors to check and the likely order......uhh yeah you might need a tune up.
