I specifically looked for a tiny(under 4 lbs). I adore my girls but I did have to explain to my SIL why I would never breed them. My SIL told me she saw a teacup yorkie for sale but it was a girl, if it was a boy she said she would have got it so she could breed hers and mine to get puppies. I smiled and shook my head and told her that no, Talula would never be bred. She looked shocked. Even Lola who is just a tad bit bigger than her sister(but still smaller than my chi) is not a safe size for having puppies.
I tried to explain about c sections and backgrounds, hereditary lines, etc. I think people around here think that an expensive cute dog means you need to breed it to make money

. My littles are PETS and my companions, to me they are my "girls".
Just this past week I explained to my father that just because a dog doesn't shed doesn't mean it's groom free. Quite a bit of time goes into brushing, bathing, trimming, good quality food and hair clips.
I think most people don't even tell others when they've spent thousands on their dogs. I know I don't tell anyone I know how much they cost, why would I?
