Thank you everyone. We are all feeling somewhat better now. Meisa's body is at the vet's for a necropsy. I have other birds so its important that we know what caused her to pass away.
The kids and I talked for a long time. We talked about how even though she was only here a week, we loved her a lot and are very sad that she's gone and that its OK to be sad.
We talked about how much we enjoyed the antics of lovebirds and made the decision that someday, when we ALL feel that we are ready, we may bring another lovebird home. We also talked about how no one needed to feel rushed to do that. We don't have to do it today, tomorrow, next month, or even next year.
It also gave us a chance to talk about how they are ALWAYS welcome here. Even when their mom doesn't need me to babysit anymore, they can still come and visit.
So, even though Meisa's passing is very sad, it led to some very good communication between me and all the kids. Who knows, maybe that was little Meisa's job on this earth. To bring me and the kiddos closer together.
