I know how you feel, I did the same thing = rush out to get a new pup to ease the pain. It will take time. It has been over two years that I lost my best friend April's Bean at 13 1/2 years old. She was 2.5 lbs and was "fearless' and travelled everywhere with me.
STAR is now 2years old and I LOVE her, but sometimes (rarely) call her April and I am soooo sad now thinking of April (I try to avoid thinking of her).
STAR is "fearful" = hates to go of her home! I feel bad that I took her away from her sibling. We "pet sit" for friend's dogs and STAR loves the company, as April also did.
