Hi Shana,
Good to hear others have are also hobbyist of saltwater fish! They are beautiful indeed.
I have two saltwater fish tanks, one a 75 gallon fish only tank, and the other a 55 gallon reef tank. I started with my 75 gallon and also had a lot of fatalities particularly in the beginning, but had been doing well until the last three weeks, when I've lost two nice fish, a green sea wrasse who I had for almost two years, and a nice sized yellow tang. So, now I am in the process of replacing the two I've lost with some new ones. The fish only tank is fairly aggressive due to having a nigger trigger along with a red flame dwarf angel. Actually, I am concerned about the angel now that he is alone with my trigger. I also have the reef tank and I have some more delicate fish, including a pygmy angel(that is pretty cool), have a Kole Tang(nice size but so funny he was afraid of the smaller fish when I introduced him to the tank about five months ago), two cardinals whom I have had almost two years(they are kind of ugly but very hardy), a firefish(these are very pretty), a cleaner shrimp(beautiful and interesting to watch other fish let the shrimp clean them from parasites)about 6 hermit crabs, and another crab who came inside the live rock when I got the rock, who has grown a lot and I may have to trade him at some point. I also have several corals in the reef tank.
They are amazing and I love the hobby, but you have to be careful who you to introduce to your tanks. Once you have them going, it is pretty easy to manage. They are not only beautiful, but so relaxing and fun to watch.
I would love to talk with you more. PM if you'd like.
