Did the vet do a bile acid test on him? If he in concerned about his liver functioning this is the test to have done to check his liver functioning... I would have this done before x-rays etc..and a normal x-ray does not show anything for liver function....he would need a special one done that shows blood flow through the liver...

In order to know how high those levels are we need the reference range..some labs give different figures...according to my labs his albium is low and his ALT is extrememly high which is what the vet was looking at and thinking of the liver...

I would have a bile levels test done (IMO) if the dog is showing signs of being lethargic, not wanting to eat (fussy), staring, vomiting etc... and has a high ALT level... and then go from there...sometimes dogs with a hig ALT do not have high bile levels...
