I believe some of the registries are indeed pointless, but I registered Joey with AKC because after reading about it, I discovered I believed very much in what they are trying to accomplish. They are the only registry the does routine unannounced inspections of kennels, as well as DNA testing. As more states make stricter laws regarding kennels, the AKC can crack down on more puppy millers and suspend them as well. So I look it as a way to contribute toward ending puppy mills, and promote good breeding. The other registries, I do see as pointless, and mislead people into thinking that there dog is more valuable because he's "registered." For more information on registries see: Registries
