I know exactly what you are saying about feral cats. We have many of them around our home and I put out food for them. Are you sure your cat is a female? If she is then it would be wise to catch her and take her to a vet that spays feral cats otherwise you will end up like us and have cats everywhere. The cats are great for keeping down the snake, mouse and rat population. Outside cats are bad about getting into cat fights and that could very well be what caused her abscess. Our Momma Kitty was dropped off here about 6 years ago and she is the only one out of the bunch that I can pet but she does not like being held. I will pray for your baby and hope that she continues to heal.
