Denise, There are quite a few quality show breeders in N.C. Lwolfe (Laurie) is from N.C. and might be able to point you in the right direction if you pm her. UKC has a big show in Hickory and of course AKC has a big show in Raleigh each year in March. You could always venture north if you want to see some fantastic dogs. Here in Va. we have Caraneal, Thimbletip, Stratford competes her alot, as does Wolpert, Tiffanys, and others.
A black and tan bitch will not help you get a nicely colored dog out of the light male you are looking at. Remember that two wrongs do not make a right. Never breed the same faults but do not breed the opposite fault either. Find a dog that is the correct color that you want for your line and breed him to a female close to the same color and texture.
