I believe that "monkey" dog is a mix between either the Mexan Hairless or the Chinese Crested, and a Chihuahua. Very cute dog, but at the same time, as you say, very strange.
I love the beach pictures. I'd be so afraid to let mine off leash with all the big guys running around.
