One note of caution when using the split "D" rings - no matter how good you think they are secured, or how wide the ribbon, they can still slide out of the dress. I've had this happen with name brands as well as homemade items. I know you can't find solid cast "D" rings in the store, you need to order them online, but they are well worth the security.
