I agree that lots of good breeders have websites, there is a difference between having a website and selling a dog from the website. Good breeders are very involved in choosing the people that they sell their puppies to. Just because you have the money, you won't get a dog, you have to prove to them you can provide for the puppy. A good breeder wants to interview you, and you want to interview them as well. You need to see in person where the dogs are being raised. If you absolutely can't see this in person, and truly know someone who has seen the breeders home and dogs than I suppose this would be ok too. However, make sure you really know the person who is recommending the breeder, too many people have thought they could trust recommendations that didn't turn out well at all.
The point is if you really want to stop puppy mills you do have to make certain sacrifices, and one of these is not buying from a website. If this would save just one dog from living in the horrifying conditions of a puppy mill, is this too much to ask?
