Default Anyone Here Quilt?

I am working on my first quilt and am doing a simple 9 block style. I have to say I'm a little nervous about doing all the quilting at the end and working with the binding.

Does anyone have any good tips? I did buy a book but it's a lot of information to get through and know what's important and what's not.

I'm using the Amy Butler Midwest Modern fabric collection with a lot of large white squares, I really want it to be crisp and bright .

I love the way the quilt top is coming out but I way underestimated how much of the patterned fabric I needed so I have an order in for 5 more yards and am just waiting on it.

For the backing do you all prefer to use a sheet in the size of the quilt or do you piece together the back?

I'm a newbie at this so any info is sooo appreciated!

Here are the pics of the quilt top so far
